WHAT IS U6 MICRO SOCCER?
U6 Micro Soccer is a coed developmental program for young players who are ready for a little more structure and gameplay.
The focus is still learning and fun — not winning.
With smaller teams, shorter games, and fewer players on the field, each child gets more touches on the ball and more opportunities to stay involved.
There are no standings and no scores are kept.
AGE REQUIREMENT
Eligible birthdates for the 2026 season:
Aug 1, 2019 - Jul 31, 2021
Players older than 6 years old may not play in U6 Micro Soccer.
**New Registration Update**
Beginning this season, we are moving to the seasonal year registration system (August 1 – July 31). Players will now be placed into divisions based on their birthdate within this school-year calendar. This change helps keep age groups aligned with classmates and supports smoother development at each level. Please use the chart below to find your child’s division based on their birthdate, and reach out if you have any questions.
TEAM STRUCTURE
• Teams are formed after registration closes
• Each team roster will typically contain 6 players
• Maximum of 8 players per team
• Smaller rosters ensure more playing time and development
To help keep teams balanced and fair, special team requests will only be considered if the requesting parent is a volunteer within the club.
SCHEDULE
• Teams meet twice per week
• Tuesdays and Thursdays
• Session times:
– 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM
– 6:45 PM – 7:45 PM
• Each session lasts 1 hour
WHAT EACH SESSION LOOKS LIKE
First 30 minutes: Team Practice
• The first 25 minutes follow a structured, pre-planned training session
• Weekly practices are designed by the club’s Director of Soccer Programming
• All teams follow the same development plan
• Players work on dribbling, passing, movement, coordination, and small group play
The next 5–10 minutes are used to transition into game play.
Second 30 minutes: Gameplay
• Teams play 4v4 (no goalies)
• Four five-minute quarters
• Two-minute halftime break
• Coaches supervise play and guide learning
• Scores are not kept
Playing time is rotated evenly.
No player will play three quarters before all other players have played two quarters.
The final few minutes are used for wrap-up and snack time.
FIELD & EQUIPMENT
• Smaller developmentally appropriate field
• 6-foot Pugg goals
• 4v4 format (no goalkeepers)
A NOTE FOR PARENTS
U6 is often a child’s first true “game experience.”
They will learn how to:
• Work as a teammate
• Follow simple game rules
• Stay engaged for longer periods
• Gain confidence on the ball
Some days will look smooth. Some days will look chaotic. Both are normal.
The goal is steady development in a positive environment.
We focus on growth, encouragement, and helping players build a strong foundation for the future.
