2019 Spring Travel

The Southwestern Soccer Club will again participate in the Southern Tier Travel Soccer League for the 2019 spring season.
STTSL will have divisions for:
10U Coed
12U Boys/Girls,
14U Boys/Girls,
16U Boys/Girls
19U Boys/Girls . 

Area soccer clubs that have participated in the past include Concord FC (Fredonia/Dunkirk), Northwest Chautauqua SC (Westfield), FAST (Falconer), BAYSO (Bemus Point), SW Catt (Randolph Area), Bradford United SC (Bradford, Pa), Enchanted Mountain SC (Allegany area), and Frewsburg FC (Frewsburg). 

Travel Season Philosophy

Though we all love to win, our club will be focused on player development first and foremost. Long term winning will come with development. The coaches will provide the players' age-specific practice sessions that will help each player develop in all areas of the game. Every player deserves a chance to be provided with a safe and fun environment. The main goal is to develop youth love of the game and provide a fun & positive social environment for all.

Team Allocation Session

We intend to have 1 team in each division. In order for us to properly create teams, we will require players to attend a players allocation session that will be held in mid January 2019. Details will be announced shortly. Each team has a max game day roster size.

Although we may not hold a tryout for the older age groups it is essential to register by the deadline of 12/31 to help us plan for these teams. Insufficient numbers will result in no teams being formed at those age levels. Please Sign-up ASAP!

Tryout sessions will be conducted by the Club for each age group as indicated above.  Player evaluations will be completed by the coaches and the Travel Committee. Final team selections must be approved by the Board of Director’s Travel Committee. Tryouts for certain age groups may be combined for the sake of consolidating the process, but all players will be evaluated based on their indicated team(s) of choice (i.e., a U-12 player trying out for both U-12 and U-14 will be evaluated at both of those levels). Additional age-specific tryouts may be required at the discretion of the Travel Committee. Players will be notified if additional tryouts are necessary. All players should make every effort to participate in all tryout sessions specific to all age groups for which they wish to be considered. Players should be prepared to demonstrate their ability in basic ‘ball skills’ (e.g., dribbling, passing, trapping, shooting, etc.). In addition, 1v1 drills, small-sided drills/games and larger sided scrimmages should be expected. Players will be expected to demonstrate an acceptable level of technical ability and tactical awareness of the game appropriate for their age group.

Players must wear shin guards and bring a water bottle and soccer ball to the tryout. Players should arrive 15 minutes early for check in to ensure they do not miss any part of their tryout session.

We will inform you of team assignments as soon as possible following the last tryout session. Please do not panic if you do not hear from the coach immediately. Sometimes it can take 2-3 weeks depending on additional tryouts and other factors. Team assignments for age groups with multiple teams (typically U10 & U12) may not be made until March to provide the opportunity for additional player evaluations. Final coaching assignments will not be made until tryouts are completed and teams are formed.

Although League rules restrict team size, we look to fill the roster whenever possible, provided each player has demonstrated the necessary skills required for his/her age group and the expected team placement within their division. If there are more registrations in an age division than available roster spots or players do not demonstrate the minimum skills required for their age group, cuts will be made. If there are sufficient numbers and an available coach, multiple teams will be formed whenever possible


Cost

Minimum Payment (we need to set it up as Tryout Fee) of $25 is due at registration. Once the teams are officially made (with or without evaluations) you will receive an email to Accept Team Assignment. After accepting you will then be asked to pay the registration in full or setup a payment plan. The $25 will be refundable. The payment plan is two payments due on February 15th and March 15th for 50% of the total registration cost. Full registration includes the minimum payment (aka Tryout Fee).

Payment Plan Available -
The payment plan that we have setup will have payments due for half of your remaining balance on February 15th and the remaining amount on March 15th. Your card will automatically be charged.

Refund Policy

You may receive a full refund anytime prior to the players being assigned to a team by contacting the club. After team assignments your maximum refund amount will be $75 (due to fees paid to league and governing bodies). If your player can not participate in the team's tournament you may receive a refund (the amount of the player tournamet fee) only until April 1st.2019.

NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN AFTER APRIL 1ST 2019.

Practices and Games

Practices will start sometime early to mid-March. Some of the teams may have practices inside until the fields are playable.

Games will be held mainly on Saturday and Sunday. There may be a few games scheduled during the week because of scheduling issues.
10U, 12U, 14U play on Saturdays
16U & 19U play on Sundays

The season's games will start late April.
19U will end their season June 15th with playoffs 
12U-16U will end June 23rd with playoffs
10U will end with a festival the weekend of June 22nd



Tournaments

We are dedicated to giving our players more exposure to high quality competition. Our teams this year will all be heading to at least one tournament. Some of our teams will be playing in more than one. Your initial payment will include participation in one tournament. Additional tournaments will require an additional payment of $25-$30 depending on the tournament.Tournaments will be decided on by the end of February.

Westlake Invitational - May 25-26 (Westlake, OH)
Niagara Pioneer Soccer Tournament - July 6-7 (Fort Niagara State Park - Youngstown, NY)
Clarence Classic Soccer Tournament - July 12-14 (Clarence, NY)
Brockport International Soccer Festival - July 20-21 (Brockport, NY)
Gates Metros Tournament and Festival - July 19-21 (Gates, NY)



Parent Expectations

We want to create a large soccer family feeling with the soccer club. Parents are asked to do everything they can possibly do to make the season great for every player, whether on our teams or the opponent's teams. Again we all love to win and to see our kids do well, however, we need to make sure we provide a positive environment for every single person. Please volunteer to help in any way needed, clean up after your family, arrive at practices/games at the coaches requested times, and always be respectful on the sidelines. *IMPORTANT NOTE: Southwestern Soccer Club will include teams in the Southern Tier Travel League only if we have enough players and a coach to make up a team. If you register and we do not have enough players for a team we will arrange to have your money refunded. Thank you for your understanding.
