U10 Micro Soccer

Please note: Rescheduling for cancellations is difficult, so we encourage families to plan accordingly.
WHAT IS U10 MICRO SOCCER?
U10 Micro Soccer continues the developmental pathway while introducing more structure, spacing, and game awareness.
The focus remains on skill development, teamwork, and learning how to compete the right way.
Winning is not the priority. Growth is.
Players will build confidence on the ball while beginning to understand positions, movement off the ball, and decision making during live play.
AGE REQUIREMENT
Eligible birthdates for the 2026 season:
Aug 1, 2015 – Jul 31, 2017
Players older than 10 years old may not participate in U10 Micro Soccer.
TEAM STRUCTURE
• Teams are formed after registration closes
• Rosters are structured to ensure strong participation and development
• Balanced teams are prioritized
To help keep teams fair and competitive, special team requests will only be considered if the requesting parent is a volunteer within the club.
SCHEDULE
• Teams meet twice per week
• Monday and Wednesday
• Session times:
– 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM
– 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM
• Each session lasts approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes
IMPORTANT FORMAT UPDATE
U10 will now play 5 field players plus a goalkeeper (5v5 + GK).
This allows:
• More touches on the ball
• Better spacing and decision making
• Development of goalkeepers in a controlled environment
• Continued progression toward larger-sided soccer
WHAT EACH SESSION LOOKS LIKE
First 30 minutes: Team Practice
• Structured, pre-planned training sessions
• Weekly practice plans provided to each coach
• All teams follow the same development framework
• Focus areas include passing combinations, movement, defending principles, and finishing
Next 5 minutes: Transition to game setup
Final 45 minutes: Gameplay
• 5v5 format (4 field players plus a goalkeeper)
• Four 12-minute quarters
• Two-minute breaks between quarters
• Five-minute halftime
• Games are controlled by one or two referees
• Scores are not emphasized
Playing time is rotated fairly.
No player will play three quarters before all other players have played two quarters.
Games conclude with a handshake and team wrap-up.

• Developmentally appropriate field size
• Age-appropriate goals
• Size 4 soccer ball
A NOTE FOR PARENTS
U10 is often where players begin to connect skills with real game understanding.
They will learn:
• How to move without the ball
• How to support teammates
• Basic team shape and positioning
• Communication on the field
• Responsibility and sportsmanship
Some games will look organized. Some will still feel messy. That is part of growth.
The goal is steady improvement, confidence, and preparing players for the next stage of soccer.
